Monkton Manor Specialties Inc. has been cited in articles published by Building Systems Magazine, Log Home Guide, The Jeffersonian and The Baltimore Sunpapers.
On May 29, 2003 The Jeffersonian printed an article named "Boom Times for Log Home Firm." This article, written by Bob Allen, differentiates between the traditional images of the small one or two room cabins verses the modern home with intricate floor plans, wrap around porches, finished basements, skylights, two-car garages, and other amenities. As Quoted from The Baltimore Sun Papers on October 17, 2001(Article by Gary Hornbacher, Photography by Doug McDonough);
"Andy Cramer of Monkton Manor Specialties Inc. representing Heritage Log Homes Inc. has been building log homes for the past 13 years. There's avid interest in log homes, he says, both from consumers and among professionals attending classes he teaches through the Maryland Association of Realtors on how to appraise log homes.
Like many in the business., he got started -- got hooked really -- when he first built his own log home.
"I feel like I am building dreams," he says. "It is hard for me to leave when I finish a job."
Part of the appeal of log homes, in fact, seems to be the extensive personal commitment owners and builder alike often make to the process. Cramer, for example, explains that in some cases he simply erects the log home shell, usually enclosing it, and the buyers will add sweat equity, sometimes dealing directly with sub-contractors. and do much themselves. Others will step back after plans, permits, financing and furnishing decisions have been made and builders like him will produce a turnkey product."
